Between Miramichi and Bathurst, NB

Project involved replacement of polymer insulators with hardened glass insulators on 345kV guyed structures located between Miramichi and Bathurst, NB. The extremely wet terrain throughout the majority of the corridor made it difficult to access the structures with traditional tracked utility equipment.

LG Projects Ltd. was engaged to work with various line contractors, aircraft providers and aviation safety consultants to plan and execute the project utilizing helicopters to transport crews to the tops of the tower’s and long lining the materials to the crew at each structure. By utilizing aircraft to complete this work resulted in significant time reduction to complete the work as well as significant cost savings to the utility.
